What will change in the new world
Just after downsizing and re-engineering our lives, we found ourselves in lockdown with 4 twenty-somethings, my 2 daughters plus 2 friends and a golden retriever. This is what I have learned:
Living with 4 young professionals with diverse skillsets and views is not only interesting but leads to better outcomes - however at work we tend to sit with our co-workers or within departments. Hot desking should address this however in most cases co-workers still sit together. My office of the future would rotate and cross-pollinate both functions and experience.
I am also impressed at the younger generation's courage to try new things - their sense of adventure is inspiring. As we ease out of lockdown, our household has contributed and launched an online retail start-up - alas until Amazon decides to open up its warehouse to non-essential goods our home is not only a refuge but a warehouse. We live and learn, that is life.
